Two famous examples were 1982 and 2000.
An alignment in March of 1982 was predicted to increase tides on the sun by several kilometers, increasing the solar wind and causing earthquakes in California. This was referred to as the “Jupiter effect” by “discoverers” J. Gribben and S. Plagemann.
- (It was found that mistakes in the calculations caused the predictions to be too large by a factor of about a million. The error was acknowledged in a letter to the journal Science, but the book “The Jupiter Effect” was never retracted…)
-
Alignments in May 2000, which were even tighter than the one in 1982, were predicted to cause atmospheric disturbances and earthquakes.
